Physical Therapy is the treatment of conditions pertaining to the body that effects how we function. These conditions may be due to illness, injury or no known reason. It is the diagnosis of, interventions for and prevention of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities related to movement, function and health.

Through the use of exercises and physical activities, physical therapy assists to help condition muscles and restore strength and movement.

Guidance, support and education promotes the highest potential of functioning for individuals.

Treatment options:

Massage, stretching, manipulation, mobilization, neuromuscular re-education, exercise and modalities (iontophoresis, e-stim, ultrasound, heat and cold).

Physical Therapists examine patient’s medical histories and then test and measure the patient’s strength, range of motion and motor function. They also determine a patient’s ability to function independently in the community or workplace after injury or illness. Physical therapists also develop plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose and its anticipated outcome. Physical Therapists often consult and practice with a variety of other professionals, such as physicians, nurses, educators, social workers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Physical Therapist Assistants, under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, may be involved in implementing treatment plans for patients. They can perform the same treatments as a Physical Therapist once a patient’s initial visit has been conducted by a Physical Therapist.
